About Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College Mumbai
The Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune, founded the Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College Mumbai in June 1937. It was Mumbai’s first educational institution administered by a private management educational organization. On December 3, 1937, H.E. Sir Roger Lumley, the then Governor of Bombay, proclaimed the institution fully open. Mataji Suvratadevi Ruia and her brilliant son, Seth Ramnivas Ramnarain Ruia, who gave a generous contribution of Rs.2,00,000 from the Ramnarain Harnandrai Charitable Trust, deserve a substantial portion of the credit for the foundation of this institution. The S. P. Mandali named the college RAMNARAIN RUIA COLLEGE in honour of this deed. Ramnarian Ruia Autonomous College of Arts & Science is a prominent educational institution in the country that has contributed to human development by developing smart, creative, devoted, and compassionate students who are making their alma mater proud in a variety of fields across the world. Ruia College became autonomous in the 2017-18 academic year. In addition, Ruia received a ‘A+’ GRADE with a CGPA of 3.70 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) during the 2017-18 academic year. College’s autonomy has given us more opportunity to create new, skill-based courses (including Life-skills), in line with our logo, ‘Explore – Experience – Excel,’ which encapsulates our pursuit of excellence. Ruia College became autonomous in the 2017-18 academic year and become the best autonomous college in Mumbai. In addition, Ruia received a ‘A+’ GRADE with a CGPA of 3.70 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) during the 2017-18 academic year. Ramnarian Ruia Autonomous now offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral degrees in Arts and Science. According to the University of Mumbai’s guidelines, admissions are solely based on merit. Candidates for Ph.D. admission must take an entrance examination administered by the college.

Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College: DDU Kaushal Kendra
KAUSHAL Centers were founded by the Indian government’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centres for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihoods with a particular emphasis on vocational education. These KAUSHAL centres were created to close the large skill gap that occurs between the educational institutions’ “supply” and the “demands” of industry. Ramnarain Ruia College was the first college in Mumbai to be given permission by the UGC to start a KAUSHAL Center in August 2015. It has almost eight decades of experience in higher education and training, and its strong industry-academia links are a direct result of its research in the humanities and sciences.
OBJECTIVES OF DDU KAUSHAL KENDRA
- To create skilled manpower for industry requirements at various levels.
- To formulate courses upto PG level, keeping in mind the need of industry trained faculty in the area of skill development and entrepreneurship.
- To work in coordination with higher education system and industry.
- To provide supplementary modular training programs in alignment of skill component with QP’s/NOS’s of relevant job roles such that learner is made job ready.
- To provide Recognition of Prior Learning framework.
- Provide multiple entry and exit points and vertical as well as horizontal mobility.
- Assess and certify skill competence through respective Sector Skill Council

Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College: UG Courses
- At the undergraduate Course, Ramanarain Ruia College provides BA, B.Sc., BMM, BMS, and B.Voc courses in a variety of specialisations. The minimum requirement for admission to UG programmes is a 10+2 diploma from an accredited board in the relevant subject area.
- Merit in the qualifying test determines selection, which is followed by University of Mumbai counselling. The merit list is created in accordance with the guidelines established by Mumbai University.
- Candidates must be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission.
- For B.Sc, at least 45% marks are required in 10+2.

- Via its PhD programmes provided in the Science and Arts disciplines, Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College promotes a strong research culture.
- The College has 11 departments total, including Bioanalytical Sciences, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Physics, and Zoology in the Science stream and History, Sanskrit, and English in the Arts stream. These departments are all recognised by the University of Mumbai for their research capabilities.
- An essential component of Ruia College’s academic programme is research work. Thirteen departments of science and the arts now have PhD programmes thanks to the college’s development of a suitable physical and intellectual infrastructure. The institution has generated more than 650 PhDs across a variety of fields over the years. The college currently has 27 Research Supervisors.
